Webinar Video: Chivalry: Why It Matters for Men (Part I)

Why does chivalry from the Middle Ages matter to men, especially Knights of Columbus (or other Knights) today and why should we practice it?

Brother Raymond de Souza provides the biblical, theological and moral reasoning to practice chivalry, but moreover why its critical to practice it to help remedy the moral evils of our time.

Chivalry: Why It Matters For Men Today Part I (youtube.com)

This is the first of two talks on chivalry. We hope to host the second part later this summer.

We also provide some scriptural resources mentioned in the talk.

Scriptural references to chivalry:

  • Ephesians 6:11-17 (Put on the armor of God; shield of faith and helmet of salvation)
  • Matthew 26:52: (For all that take the sword, shall perish by the sword)
  • Matthew 10:34 (Do not think that I am come to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword.)
  • Luke 22:36 (he that hath not, let him sell his coat, and buy a sword.)
  • 1 Peter 3:15 (But sanctify the Lord Christ in your hearts, being always ready to satisfy everyone that asketh you a reason of that hope which is in you.)
  • Apocalypse 19:11 (And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him, was called Faithful and True, and with justice he judgeth and fighteth.)

Also below is a picture of the stairwell leading to St. Helena’s chapel in Church of the Holy Sepluchre in Jerusalem, which is lined with small crosses etched into the wall by the swords of the crusaders as they went to homage the relics of the True Cross.
