Annual Novena to Bl. McGivney Begins Sunday August 4 - August 12

Brother Knights,

Please join us for our annual novena for Blessed Michael McGivney’s canonization, the founder of the Knights of Columbus. The novena begins Sunday August 4 and it concludes Monday August 12, the day prior to his feast day of August 13th.

Our suggested intention is for the protection of the Traditional Latin Mass, the Mass of Bl. Michael McGivney.

Additionally, in the July 2021 edition of Columbia, the Supreme Chaplain encouraged Knights to attend Mass on that day (even if his feast is not celebrated at Mass). This year should be easy as the feast day falls on a Sunday. We would add to that and encourage members of our network to try and attend a Traditional Latin Mass on that day, if their schedule permits.

Novena prayer is below. A PDF version to download can be found at this link.

Novena to Blessed Michael McGivney - August 4 – 12 (Feast day August 13)

English

God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of  the  widow  and  orphan,  you  called  your  priest, Blessed  Michael  McGivney,  to  be  an  apostle  of Christian  family  life  and  to  lead  the  young  to  the generous  service  of  their  neighbor.

Through  the example of his life and virtue, may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of  charity  and  building  up  his  Body  which  is  the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast.

We   humbly   ask   that   you   glorify   Blessed Michael McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor I now present (here make your request).Through Christ our Lord. Amen

Intention: Protection and growth of the Traditional Latin Mass within the Church and throughout the Knights of Columbus
