Happy Founders Day

Brother Knights,

We wanted to thank everyone who joined us in praying the novena for Ven. Fr. Michael McGivney’s canonization. Today, Sunday March 29 is Passion Sunday, which begins the 2 week period where we meditate more closely on Our Lord’s Passion. With the restriction of public Masses and Holy Communion, this Passiontide allows the faithful to grow closer to Christ, uniting ourselves more closely to the Cross during this time of suffering and penance.

Today is also Founder’s Day for the Knights, when Ven. Father McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus 138 years ago, March 29, 1882.

The Knights of Columbus website has a nice write up on Fr. McGivney in light of the concerns about living in unsettling times:

Online Latin Masses & new webpage

With many of the public Masses suspended, many of you may be looking to view Latin Masses online. While many parishes are doing them, there are two excellent websites worth mentioning which can serve as your 1 stop place:

·         LiveMass.Net – This is run by the priests of the Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) and features Latin Masses being offered at different times from their apostolates throughout the world each day. They also have an option to stream non-FSSP Latin Masses if your pastor is interested (See St. Corona link for details)

Their website is: www.livemass.net

·         VideoStream – The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, another Latin Mass religious order, also steams their Masses from across the U.S.

Plenary Indulgence for online Masses: Relatedly, you may have heard the Vatican has issued a new plenary indulgence last week to those who watch an online Mass, offer prayers, under the usual conditions. To learn more visit:

New webpage: Lastly, we have also established a COVID-19 & Latin Mass webpage that can provide a link to these online Masses, and other traditional spiritual resources for our members. Please bookmark this page: https://www.latinmassknights.org/p/covid-19.html

Reflections from Fr. Robert C.Pasley

Brother Knights,

Our Brother Knights at Mater Ecclesiae Council (12833) in Berlin, NJ has shared a message from their Rector, Fr. Robert Pasley on the current state of affairs in our country and in the Church:

(Reposted from the Parish's Facebook page - March 17, 2020)

A TERRIBLE DAY - Fr. Robert Pasley, Rector, Mater Eccesiae Chapel, Berlin, NJ

Today, for the first time in my 37 ½ years as a priest and my 64 ½ years on this earth, I said my last public Mass, in Church, for the foreseeable future. It is so sad and I have such an empty feeling. Even Holy Week may be threatened. The good news is that private Mass will be said every day. Confessions will be heard every day. And if people need help we are here. Eight priests have died in Italy serving their people. We want to help but we want to be very careful as well.
The Confession schedule is as follows:

Confessions will be heard EVERY DAY at the regularly scheduled times, except for Tuesday night
which is cancelled. New time – Sunday from 1:00PM to 2:30PM

  • If the weather is nice, please enter the screened porch and go to the window to the left of the door. Let the priest know you are there.
  • If the weather is bad, enter the Narthex, turn right into the Hallway, and enter the first classroom.
  • IN ANY TYPE OF WEATHER IF YOU ARE SICK, SNEEZING, COUGHING, OR HAVE A FEVER, DO NOT ENTER THE BUILDING – PLEASE GO ON THE PORCH SO THAT WHATEVER SICKNESS YOU HAVE WILL STAY OUTSIDE. Both Father Hartman and I are over 60 and we want to be available but safe.
  • This could change depending on circumstances. All changes will be posted on Facebook.
Starting this Sunday, Laetare Sunday, Mass will be live streamed at 10:30AM on our Facebook page. After Sunday we will add live streaming of Wednesday night Mass at 7:30PM as well. If there are any changes or more live stream capabilities we will let you know on Facebook.
This whole scourge is a physical symbol of the spiritual pandemic that has afflicted the Church since 1963. Faithlessness, scandal, irreverence, casual worship of God, immorality and defense of immorality even by those who call themselves Catholic, the horror of abortion, the plague of contraception that is decimating the Church, acceptance of socialistic, communistic and masonic principles through the high jacking and abuse of charity and “social justice.” And the list could go on.

The Church has been decimated by a spiritual and moral pandemic. WE MUST RETURN TO THE TRADITIONS OF OUR FAITH, which are the vessels that contain and pass on Jesus Christ and His Truth.

We need to practice our Faith, especially in the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, with the greatest renewed fervor and devotion we can muster. Please pray for the physical safely of your relatives and friends during this time but even more importantly pray that those who no longer practice the Faith to come back. Maybe during this horrible physical wakeup call they will also be open to a spiritual wakeup call and conversion.

The Liberals, following the atheist and communist Saul Alinsky always follow the dictum, “Never let a crisis go to waste. “ In other words, during times of crisis and confusion we can push our agenda when no one is looking.

Let us push our agenda in this crisis and put Christ back in the center of everything!!
